There's a post on the Bloodhorse website that tells about the Dubai World Cup & it has the video to it. What a race! Thunder Snow made history!

Thanks, Twinkle. We missed the race. An exciting one, too!
Only one more month until the Derby.

Uh oh ... we blew it! The Ascot Cup races (in the U.K.) were run this week. They did mention it during televising the Belmont but Mom forgot about it.
Mom just happened to find Ascot while channel surfing this morning. She saw only the last 2 races for today. Ascot was televised on the NBC Sports channel so you may not have been able to see it anyway.
The final day, tomorrow -- Saturday, June 22nd will be televised on NBC starting at 8 a.m. Central Time. Check the time in your time zones.

No race, but here's digitalized film of the greatest racehorse ever -- Man O'War. Each stride he took while racing was 28 feet! He did not win the Triple Crown because he was not entered in the Kentucky Derby, but he won the Preakness and Belmont Stakes. Besides siring many winning racehorses, Man O'War was sire to Triple Crown winner, War Admiral, and grandsire to Seabiscuit.

The Royal Ascot races are being run this week, June 15-19, 2021 on NBCSP channel. From 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (CST)
It seems more "low key" as the Queen isn't there, just Prince Charles in her place (who wants to see him!)
They're showing steeplechasing racing from another racing course between the Ascot races.

That was quite emotional. First I got to really enjoy watching Lava Man moving his head & prancing to Born To Run & one of the announcers actually mentioning him in the post parade.
The race was awesome until towards the end. Midnight Bourbon went down hard, sprung up & the jockey flew over his neck. The jockey then appeared to get clipped by MB & another horse. That was tough & scary to watch. I just knew one of both of them would wind up hurt bad.
I was freaking out but really glad Hot Rod Charlie won. I was really rooting for him. Then no, he was DQ'ed to last place. When they showed the reply it was quite clear why & the stewards made the right call even though it broke my heart. That race was a Win & Your In for the Breeders' Cup Classic. They just both made their move at the same time. It was just an accident. It could have turned out way worse than it did.

Watching the whole race again, you will notice that the other jockeys would look behind them for clearance before making their moves; Hot Rod Charlie's jockey did not -- he had his head down and never looked.
They always blame the horses for swerving and banging into each other, but when horses run free, you never see them bang in to each other. The last thing a horse wants to do is fall.
Glad neither was hurt. The jockey stayed in the jockeys' room and never went to the hospital. He said he just had bad bruises. So far Midnight Bourbon is OK.
Regarding Lava Man: A few weeks ago, at one of the race broadcasts, they mentioned that Lava Man would be one of the lead ponies in the Haskell post parade. Good to see a former racehorse star with another job and enjoying himself.

Alot of people are saying they think the no whip rule came into play. They are saying this could have been prevented if the jockeys had been allowed to use the whip. I think that's a load of crap. I have never approved of using the whip. I think they should be banned across the world. Some jockeys get especially crazy with it & about whip the poor horse to death. I've seen numerous horses get injured from it. The jockeys need to always look before they make a move. Let's put more of the blame on the humans. If some jockeys didn't get so crazy with it, there probably wouldn't be such a debate concerning it. If they want to be allowed to use a whip, then be alot more responsible with it!
