What did your mum have for dinner? Mum just had some baby sized pikelets. Do you call them hotcakes or pikelets in US?

She had pizza - one of the individual deep dish ones. Heats up in about 15 minutes.
In the U.S. we call pikelets pancakes or hotcakes.

Mum got very bad stomach Tues night. But she knew it was not ordinary stomach ache. So, she went to emergency department. They scanned her. The next morning, they told her that she had appendicitis and had to operate on her. So, she got the operation in the late afternoon. She used to have larger operation before but she can still get out of bed to go to the toilet shortly after she was awake. Thistime she underestimate the effects of the drugs and overestimate herself. So, she had a big fall after stepping on the floor. A big team came to put her back to bed but she said she was bursting. They let her in the toilet but she could not pee. So, they inserted a urine bag on her and the liquid rushed out like bursting. The worst is a group of doctors tried to find veins on her for injection sites. Mum had left mastectomy before and so people can only use her right arm. But mum does not have lymphodema and so when people always cannot find veins on her right arm, they have no choice but to use her left arm.The doctors tried everything- ultrasound etc... But cannot se up an injection site. So, mum told them to use her right arm. They eventually called their boss and he managed to make 2 injection sites. Now mum got bruises everywhere in her arm and body. She got a blue patch on her face after her fall.

When the doctors checked mum's pupils. They said her pupil dilated. So, mum thought she was dying. She was wondering if they are cotnacting dad. If yes, she would tell them to tell dad to get her life insurance package to the church. But when the doctors asked her about her situation, she said she was fine and was normal on everything. They gave 3 questions to check her neural state but mum criticised that the there were too few questions. She is just physically not capable. The next day, the doctors asked her why she took certain medication, mum explained to them and gave info about her psychiatrist's name and contact number. They were so happy that mum knew her stuff well and made their job easy. It is always difficult to seek info from a patient. Some people are not capable to provide info because they have no idea what they are eating. Sometimes, they do not even know their doctor's name.

Mom has never had appendicitis but she's heard how painful it is. Glad your mom's surgery went okay but sorry to hear about her falling and the injection problems afterwards. We hope she has a speedy recovery and no more setbacks!

Dad found out that the hospital has a very efficient patient system. You put the patient ID in it and they will show you where she is. Mum was wondering how hopsitals will be evolved in the next 20 years. What do you think?

Yes, it's very important to be able to answer those kinds of the questions when you go to the hospital, or have a family member or trusted friend who can, if you're not able to do so.

That is very efficient. Hospitals definitely are very high tech now. I'm sure that will continue to evolve - can't begin to imagine what they'll be like in 20 years.

Robots will likely take over a lot of jobs in the coming years.
It was basically a normal work day (did some online training and inventoried an artifact collection). But she had had a busy week overall with some other things in addition to work, and it's also really hot here now, so she was just really tired when Saturday rolled around.

So, do you have aircon at home to cool you down? I did not expect Texas can be that hot. It is because of the westery wind from the dessert?

Oh yes, definitely. Air conditioning is a necessity in Texas. Mom's new landlord has recently installed new a/c systems in all the apartment units, so it's much better than it was. Texas is in the southern U.S. and that region of the country is particularly hot in the summer. Mom lives in a part of Texas (near the Gulf coast) that's really humid, so that makes it even more miserable. Nowhere near any deserts - have to go to west Texas for that.

So, the plants and agriculture in Texas should be flourishing because of the warmth an humidity? Not a good place for growing corns and lettuce?

Yes, a lot of different crops are grown here. Corn is grown in some areas. Rice is grown in southeast Texas (where Mom lives) because it's a swampy, low-lying area. Not sure about lettuce. I imagine a lot of people have gardens where they grow it.
