I had been feeding raw, decreasing income made me have to rely more on wet food than previously.
Well today took Oreo to the vet for a separate issue, they did a blood panel and found this. Went home with a case of special wet food. Wanting to know what my diet options are.
Full raw isn't an option and never really was. I did partial raw until a bit later. So....what do I do.

Hi Oreo, I am so sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. There is a great site by a lady named Tanya that has a lot of information about kidney disease. Her website is at: www.felinecrf.org. I hope it is ok that I posted the link.

Whoops, the lady's name is Helen and Tanya was one of her cats. Sorry about that.

Thank you I still need to read more of the page, but are raw meats a good option for a kidney healthy diet? I can't feed full raw the way I used to, simply go to the store and buy all the meat and put it together myself, but I was looking at the prepackaged stuff at the pet store. I remember back on Dogster in their raw feeding forum (back when my dog was on full raw) that the prepackaged stuff was a little bit looked down on. To my understanding the main concerns are sodium content and phosphorus.

Hi, Oreo, I'm really no expert. There are a lot more people out there who know way more than I do. I do know that you shouldn't go by what dogs eat. Cats and cat food is completely different from dogs and what they eat. Vets usually sell the Science Diet food and no one I know endorse that brand.

When Pepper was having issues with her kidneys she only ate enough dry food from the Vet that was prescribed to keep going, she hated it. I did get her to eat Purina brand for her kidneys and then went to the over the counter Purina brand for kidneys/ ut. I did discuss this with her Vet. After almost a year of this i made the decision to put her back on her Purina Naturals and so far after 3 years she is still doing great.
