Ah yes, I do remember reading about her before. I don’t think we saw her burial site when we traveling in Illinois. I do think there were other ones we stopped at, though.
Well, the pawrents, not me MOL

Did your mom and dad visit President Lincoln's tomb in Springfield, Illinois?

Yeah, momsmom was 8 years old. Miners came from all across the U.S. The streets and sidewalks were a solid mass of people. Mom saw a picture in the paper once. Mt. Olive is a little town of 2,000.

Oh yes, they did! Mama was going to say that, and then she thought, no I must be wrong, his grave is at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC. MOL!
She was right in the first place! And she was actually at both. MOL!

Wow, Mother Jones was greatly beloved by a lot of people. That must’ve been a huge procession and a huge crowd for such a tiny town

Mom and momsmom visited Lincoln's tomb in Springfield. I think it said that he was in a glass coffin for a few years, but they had to put him in a regular coffin became his body started to decompose.

Yes, in the picture mom saw the town was so packed, she didn't think anyone could even move!
Mother Jones was a tough one. Her motto: Pray for the dead and fight like hell for the living.

Mom's great grandmother is buried very close to Mother Jones. I guess 'cause her son-in-law (mom's grandfather) was a miner, so they were able to bury her in the Miners' Cemetery.

Yes, in that 1902 photo, she’s a pretty lady, so she probably was really cute when she was young.
That is cool that your Mom’s great grandmother is buried close to Mother Jones.
I’m having fun, and I hate to leave, but my typist can’t keep her eyes open anymore. She was trying to stay and party, as long as she could stay awake. MOL!
But I’m going to march off to a quintessential New Orleans song.
Sweet Dreams! Bootsie and I really had a great time at this pawty!
HAPPY MARDI GRAS!
