So where do you keep your litterbox in the house and what type do you have?

Talem prefers his in the laundry room and it is just a plain box, that's what he likes.

I have to live on the second floor, because there is an unfriendly dog on the first floor I am only allowed downstairs in the evening when both pawrents are home. Because our upstairs bathroom is not kitty-proof, my litter box is on one of the bedrooms. It is the enclosed type, and sits on top of the lid from a rubbermaid bin to protect the carpet. The back of the bin-lid jams the closet door shut, which I can open easily otherwise.

In our house, my mom has made our entire family room into a cat sanctuary just for me. That way I can escape from the dogs and have some quiet time when I need it. The back of my room has a small area with a door which leads to the backyard. Though I'm strictly an indoor cat, mom keeps my litter box in the small area near the door. Currently I only have a smaller sized, open litter box, nothing fancy, just a box. In a few days however, mom is going to buy me a covered litter box so I can't scatter as much litter everywhere. This is what mom is going to buy me...
either this one which has an odor absorbing filter
or this one which has steps to collect litter as she comes out of her litter box
