We've recently had all our floors (except master bedroom) refinished or had placed hard wood floors. I live for my Swiffer with the disposable pads. Picks up any fluff of fur. Hardwoods are lots of work cause they show dust and fur so I do them daily. Bootie and Tessa attack the Swiffer brush broom! We damp mop the floors every 4 weeks with 1/4 white distilled viengar and 3/4 parts water. This is what the Hardwood Floor Man suggested. Nothing else. Yucky hard balls are so much easier to clean but Tessa always seems to run to the one room carpeted!

Does the vinegar dull the finish? I was thinking of trying that as we have all hardwood in our house too. With 4 kits we have some tumbleweeds thats for sure, I also use the swiffer vac, but I cut some old towels the same size as the swiffer, and then I can either wet them or use dry. You can also use old tshirts!

we also use the vinegar and water , especially because we are all on a raw diet. have had no trouble with dulling of floors.

All of our floors have a top finish on it (don't know the name of the stuff but it's like a varnish) which protects the wood itself. We haven't noticed any dulling of the floors. We don't do them liek every week though- he told us every 4-6 weeks except for spot cleaning. He does not like Murphy's soap or any of those "Bona" products. He said only distilled white vinegar 1 part to 4 parts warm water. We use small loop torn towels and wrap it so the Swiffer will work. They are only damp NOT wet.

My steam thing works really good and cleans great! We do not have wood floors, just tile and laminate. And carpet. I wish we would have had the steam cleaner though when we did have hardwood floors.

The man who did my floors (Installed some and refinished all the others) said NOTHING but vinegar and water anything else will mess up the finish- no wet/dry swiffer no Murphy's soap! WE use the dry floor Swiffers only or I think you can them elcxtrostatic mops are OK too. I've just had alot more luck with the Swiffer (faster)- I do my floors every morning and night- Tessa can't stand stuff on the floor. She will shake her legs if there is something on them- my son says she's prissy! (no just finicky!) Tessa had always had carpet so it took her awhile to get used to the hardwood; I still have carpet in hers and mines' bedroom.

I have carpet, laminate, and vinyl. I was lucky enough to find a Mint at Big Lots for $100. I mop once a month to make sure I get all the nooks where the Mint doesn't fit. Check out the video of it working. You should be able to use it on hardwood, with the formulas you mentioned earlier. The unit is much more expensive, now that IRobot has taken over the unit's production, and have likely made improvements. video.bedbathandbeyond.com/v/10787/mint-automatic-floor-cleaner-cleaning-vacuums/
