Distaff 1. Clairiere 2. Wet Paint 3. Idomatic Classic 1. Arabian Knight 2. Proxy 3. Zandon
Forgot about the races. I've kind of given up watching horse racing since seeing a filly in the lead and 2 strides from the finish line break her cannon bone, go down and get back up with her leg flopping. Two weeks later forgot to watch a race and when I tuned in was glad I missed it for the leading horse broke his fetlock just before the finish.

I was watching both of those races, so I know exactly who you are talking about Athena. I did want to put something on here in the horse racing news section, but I'd get too upset trying to type. Maple Leaf Mel & New York Thunder won't be forgotten.
Thus far the races haven't turned out well. Mike Smith rode Beholder's daughter Tamara too fast & hard & nearly ran her into the ground. I hope she'll be ok. That really upset me. This has all I have been able to find thus far: Heavy breathing did in Tamara in what was supposed to be her coronation Friday. Instead, it was another filly who brought a 2-for-2 record to the Breeders’ Cup who emerged as a champion in waiting.
Mountain Bear finished his race second, was favoring a leg & walked into the ambulance. I found this update on Mountain Bear: Following the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf, Mountain Bear’s jockey Dylan McMonagle quickly dismounted after an injury to the horse became apparent. Mountain Bear was immediately attended to by California Horse Racing Board, Breeders’ Cup, and 1/ST Racing veterinarians. He was taken via equine ambulance to the Southern California Equine Foundation (SCEF) equine hospital for further evaluation and diagnostics and was determined to have sustained a non-displaced lateral condylar fracture to his left front leg. He has been returned to the barn in the care of his connections. A full recovery is expected.

I really wanted to see one of the Japanese horses win the Classic. If one of them couldn't, then I am glad White Abarrio won. Derma Sotogake came so close. I would have just died if he'd actually won it! I am so proud of him for finishing second. If Ushba Tesoro could have hit the board too, that would have really been something!

White Abarrio is beautiful.
Why do you like the Japanese horses?

Athena, I am a huge Sunday Silence fan! America as a whole treated that horse like he was garbage. He won the Kentucky Derby, Preakness & The Breeders' Club Classic, yet nobody really wanted to breed their horses to him. Thankfully Mr. Yoshida saw something in him & off to Japan he went. The rest is history. I don't think anyone can match his stud record. America's loss was certainly Japan's gain. I always want to see his descendants win. He's up at Rainbow Bridge laughing his behind off at America & we deserve it too!

Twinkle and Athena, you both did better than me. 😄
Mom and I even chose horses for the races that were shown on NBC itself — I think there were five races — and we did awful! Good thing we don’t bet money. 😅

Ætheling, my Mommy bet real money on several of the races & lost most of them too. She didn't bet a whole lot, but she still lost.
Did you both know that Cody Dorman, the handicapped boy that Cody's Wish was named after died on the way home from the track? How poetic that Cody's Wish won his last race before he retired with them all right there. I do believe that Cody Dorman knew this was Cody's Wish last big race & he held on long enough to witness that. I believe he died peacefully with his last wish fulfilled. What a sad, yet beautiful story!

Oh, wow! I did not know that!
Just watched the race. Wow! National Treasure came back and Cody's Wish won by only a very short nose!
