I never saw The Seven Samurai movie, But that’s the one on which the Magnificent Seven is loosely based, isn’t it? Mom loved the original Magnificent Seven movie, she never saw the later one.

Felix, it’s only 10 minutes long, so we can watch it before bed.

I wasn't too bothered by fireworks, but Coco definitely is, and thunderstorms, too. We had a pretty big storm a few hours ago, right around Coco's dinnertime. She only ate a little of her food before she ran and hid under the bed.
Speaking of Coco, she's napping right now, but she'll come by here tomorrow.

Yes, I saw it was short - we'll watch it before signing off for the night.

Aw, sweet Coco 🤗 Rosco and I weren’t bothered by thunderstorms either, or gunshots (Since we live in a rural area).

The Magnificent Seven is mom's all time greatest Western: the good guys are good, the bad guys are bad, the scenery is beautiful and the music is magnificent! Each time she watches it, she's hoping they don't get killed.
Now mom heard, too, that The Magnificent Seven is based on the Japanese movie, but she also heard once that the Japanese director/author based The Seven Samurai on American westerns.
Yep, we've never watched the latest version of The Magificent Seven.

Mom says that’s what she likes to think her guardian angels look like. They are old west versions of guardian angels. MOL On your mom hoping the movie ends differently every time she watches it. Now mom think she is going to order that out of the library again.

The only one of us four scared of fireworks or thunderstorms is Sterling. He hides under the bed.

They just don't make movies like they used to.
Another gripe Mom has is that so many current movies seem to be sequels (multiple!) and remakes. Not a lot of originality in Hollywood these days.

Yes, like they've run out of ideas and stories.

And . . . The Magnificent Seven also has 3 very special morals scenes: 1. when the villagers come to Chris and offer to pay him "everything . . . everything of value in our village." and he says, "I've been offered alot in my work, but never "everything". 2. When the some of the villagers want them to leave and one of the seven say to Chris they never signed a contract and he answers "that's the kind you have to keep." and, #3 is especially good for all the kids who think they're so smart to look up to people with guns:

Felix, that’s very true about movies!
Sterling, that is lovely. It’s nice when movies have a moral point. I’ve noticed it in the older TV shows they are more likely to have moral points than today’s TV shows.
Sterling, I hope you’re not typing from underneath the bed

Yes, those older movies and TV shows often provided good moral lessons for everyone.
LOL about Sterling!

Yeah, but I've got long arms!
Sounds like the next town is shooting. Mom heard that the one guy who usually shoots his stuff off one block away from us is out of town for the 4th. Hopefully, no one will take over. He had more fireworks than St. Louis about 7 years ago. It was so bad, poor Amber, our collie, didn't know where to hide. Mom had both TVs blaring music, trying to cover up all the fireworks, but Amber and I were still scared.

I'm not scared of fireworks. I'm in my palace--I know I'm purrfectly safe.
