Oh my I was thinking it wasn’t until next weekend! Thank you, Twinkle. Bootsie and I will go and change into hats with Black-eyed Susans on them.

I bombed out on this one. In both the Kentucky Derby & Preakness for this year, I was disappointed in the finishes. The horse or horses I was really pulling for did not do so well. Hmmm... I wonder what the Belmont will be like?

I picked Medina Spirit and Midnight Bourbon, and it sure looked like they were going to come in first and second. Until Rombauer came out of nowhere.

It's always hard for a horse to run in all three races and run against horses that are brought in to run just one of the races. Seems to me, years ago, the same horses competed in all three races.
I felt sorry for Medina Spirit. I think he tried so hard but a 2 week rest wasn't enough.
When I lived in Chicago I boarded my horse at the same stable where a horse vet boarded his. He was one of the vets that took care of the Standardbred (harness) racehorses at the Chicago tracks. He said people think, "oh, a horse just runs around the track in a race and no big deal", but the night after the race most of the horses that raced were down, laying flat sleeping soundly in exhaustion in their stalls. A race takes a lot more out of a horse than people think.
