curiouser and curiouser......
I don't really understand the whole mess. It's just such a shame that there is a mess. And dead horses.

Mommy has been very sick since Saturday. She missed work Monday & Tuesday. She's only staying until 11:00 today so she can go to the doctor. She should have went by now, but there's one certain doctor that she loves & he wasn't available until today. We had NO idea about the suspension of Maximum Securities jockey until we read your post Jason! We're out of the loop. Most video sites are blocked at Mommy's job. Let me try to see if I can post the race here so that hopefully I can view it again & then I'll comment. It's been awhile since I looked so I want have a fresh look before I comment.

Well, I don't feel that this video gave me the good angles I needed, but it doesn't appear that the jockey did anything wrong. I have watched this many times & I don't think (at any rate) that the jockey was at fault. Horses are living beings with minds of their own. Maximum Security just veered out when he shouldn't have probably due to crowd noise. Like I said before, put the ear muffs on him if crowd noise bothers him (I think they are cute). Gate Dancer looked so cute in them & you sure couldn't miss him running out there with them on. Maybe they should shelf him until he matures a bit more or modify his training to help him deal with crowd noise.
Boy, what a black mark this Kentucky Derby has become! It makes me worried about what the heck will happen now in The Black Eyed Susan Stakes & The Preakness this Friday & Saturday! I need some time to think about my picks. I'm going to post some Preakness facts & an old video I'd like to you furs to view in a day or two in the Preakness post.

This just in:
The owners of disqualified Kentucky Derby winner Maximum Security have officially filed a lawsuit challenging the legality of the horse’s disqualification.
Per the Louisville Courier Journal, the suit was filed in a United States District Court in Frankfort, Kentucky, on Tuesday. In it, Gary and Mary West want the horse to be declared the winner of the Derby. They also, perhaps more importantly, want the horse to receive the winner’s share of the Kentucky Derby purse.
The Wests say in the suit that Maximum Security’s disqualification was “unconstitutional.” From the Courier Journal:
Among the defendants are the stewards who made the decision, including chief steward Barbara Borden, as well as several members of the Kentucky Horse Race Commission, including executive director Marc Guilfoil.
Susan West, the Horse Racing Commission spokeswoman, declined to comment on the lawsuit, citing the organization's policy to not comment on pending litigation.

Mommy has a UTI, her acid reflux is causing tons of stomach & throat issues, she has some kind of virus affecting her nose & ears & maybe more. All of her test results aren't back yet. Fun!
People will be talking about the Kentucky Derby for quite some time. Who knows how long these lawsuits & everything will take? It's such a darned shame! Well, here's hoping this won't happen in the Preakness & Belmont.

Jockeys are suspended all the time for different reasons. Even the greatest jockeys have been suspended from time to time.
Now, it's VERY odd that the winner of the Derby isn't running in the Preakness. Don't ever remember owners passing up the Triple Crown. Country House isn't "sick". Now something is really "fishy".
Speaking of fish, where are Jason's guppies?

I just saw Jason's guppies in the Preakness Bets thread.
You're right, this is all so odd.
Mama got Dick Francis books out of the library today. she likes mystery books, and all of this has her thinking of Dick Francis plots!

I read that Country House had a cough, so he couldn't train for The Preakness. He's better now & back in training. It's happened a few times in the past where the Derby winner will pass on the Preakness, but it sure does not happen often.
