Hi Kits! Quick question. When we first got Chloe, we fed her half of those tiny Fancy Feast cans per meal. We feed her twice a day. Then, we switched her to the larger Friskies cans. She gets 1/4 can per meal. She got heavy - 9.5 pounds. The regular house cat should weigh 10 pounds, but we want her more around the 7.5-8 pound area. We're still trying, and we tried taking her off of Friskies and just fed her dry food for a while, but she's still not losing weight. We're down to 1/9 of the can. Got any tips for making her lose weight? By the way, she just might be an American shorthair, or tabby, whatever. I don't know much about cat breeds XD

The American Shorthair weighs 7 to 12 pounds. If you are giving her treats, cut back on them. What weight does her vet say she should be at? My grandpawrents have 7 cats. One cat weighs around 8-8.5 pounds & she looks so little, but she's always been small. The others are overweight, but I don't know just how much they weigh. Perhaps weighing around 9 pounds would be ideal, but I can't say that for sure. If the vet thinks she needs to lose weight, try playing with her more often. Get a laser pointer or even a flashlight & let her chase it around.
