Field Spaniels are good looking dogs. Norfolk terriers were on mama's shortlist for dog breeds when she got Rosco, but they are a difficult to breed to get. So she narrowed down to Cairn Terriers and Border Terriers and Rat Terriers. And ended up choosing Rosco

Good night, Macy -- happy dreams!
Roscoe is the best for your family.
Mom likes Airedales and Scotties, but they're never picked as finalists. Mom had two Airedales at different times.

Sterling, When mamas daddy was a boy, his older brother had an Airedale. Brier was a real brainiac to hear everyone in the family tell it. The most amazing thing he did: A brother-in-law borrowed Brier, to take him from the farm in Southwestern PA, to Dearborn Michigan, on a hunting trip. While out in the woods there, Brier ran off, and they couldn't find him. The brother-in-law came back to PA, very sad having lost Brier.
Sometime later---and by the time mama heard the story, no one in the family could remember how long it was, it was sometime from a couple weeks to a couple months---Brier showed up at their door! Since he was a hunter, he hadn't lost any weight, he had been able to feed himself. The only thing was, his fur was very matted, and Nona put salve on his tired feet. But other than that he was fine.
He had never been out of PA before, but he had found his way home!
