Hey there, Kitties!
So as cat owners - and kitties like you - know, cats hate, with a capital H-A-T-E, water. And my kitty hates grooming, too. That's why I decided to type up this advice for your owners. Make sure they read it: GROOMING/BATHING KITTY 101!
~GROOMING~
OK. So, I don’t know how many cats actually hate being groomed, but I know my cat hates it. Here’s what you’ll need:
-A laptop, phone or tablet... anything that you can play YouTube on. A CD player may work too, but you will need a relaxing cat music disc for it to work.
-A brush, the one that you use all the time (if you use one)
-Treats
-A leash and harness (optional)
-Your cat (no duh)
OK, let’s go:
RELAXING KITTY
1. OPTIONAL STEP: Get your cat on the leash and harness. Just so she can’t run away from you or anything.
2. Get the relaxing cat music and play it.
3. Let your kitty relax a little. Pet her. The reason we needed the leash and harness was specifically for the petting – just in case she tried to get away or anything.
4. Once you’ve given Kitty some happy time, start brushing her. Here’s how I do it. Note: never turn off the music during this process. It helps relaxing Kitty.
BRUSHING KITTY
1. Get Kitty on her side. Roll her over or coax her to roll over on her own. Start brushing her. Don’t use the soft-bristle side of the brush. Use the metal-bristle (if you have it). If you have the metal-bristle (not sure what it’s called), then PLEASE remember: use it gently. I mean, don’t just “brush” over it. Yes, put some pressure, but not too much. Your kitty may meow every so often, but it’s getting the fur out.
2. Switch sides and do the same.
3. Let her walk a little bit. Once you’re satisfied with her break, grab her leash and keep her still. Doing this may be easier with two people.
4. Take the metal bristle over her back.
5. Once you’re done Kitty’s back, you’re done with the metal-brush. Take out all the fur and throw it out.
6. Now, use the soft bristles on her head. Only do it very lightly, just a brush. Don’t do it too hard!!
7. Do what you did for her head on Kitty’s chest. Kitty is now clean!
8. Take her off the leash
9. Reward Kitty for being so good by giving her a treat!
~BATHING~
Lots of cats hate water. But, if you can minimize the amount of water you use, it may not be as bad! Here’s how to do it.
What you will need:
1. 2 old towels (or any towel, I guess. Throughout the steps I’ll call it an ‘Old towel’ though.)
2. 2 containers that you can hold water in.
3. Cold, warm or hot water. I typically use warm water.
4. Whatever you use (conditioner, etc.)
5. A really low-power hair dryer to minimize the amount that your kitty is scared.
6. A sweater for Kitty.
7. Again, a laptop, phone, tablet, CD player... whatever has relaxing cat music on it.
8. Leash and harness (or leash and collar. Whatever you have) – most definetely required.
9. Treats
10. Extra water. Again, cold, warm or hot.
Note: I, personally, don’t like using the hair dryer on my cat because she’s scared of it, but sometimes, if I accidentally got her too wet to be towel-dried, I will have to use the hair dryer. But my family’s 2nd hair dryer is realy weak, so I just use that one.
STEPS:
RELAXING KITTY
1. Get Kitty into her leash and harness. Tie her to something to get her used to it.
2. Play the music.
3. Talk to your kitty. Pet her. Let her be for 1 minute.
4. Again, never take off the music.
MAKE YOUR FORMULA.
We won’t actually be dunking your cat in a tub-full of water, so you’ll need to make your own water-conditioner mix.
1. Get the container and put your option-temperature water in it.
2. Put Kitty’s conditioner in the water.
3. Mix until the conditioner can, for the most part, not be seen.
4. For the second plastic container, just put the extra water in it.
BATHING KITTY
Remember to groom kitty before giving her a bath!
1. Get one of your old towels and put it in your mix. Only get part of it wet!
2. Rub it all over kitty’s body. Get her fur wet, but not too wet.
3. Let it sit for a few minutes.
4. Now get some of the extra water. Use a dry part of your first towel and rub it over the conditioner.
5. Take your second old towel and rub it all over Kitty’s body. If she isn’t drying, or she’s too wet to be towel-dried, you may just have to use the hair dryer.
6. Once you’re done, put on Kitty’s sweater. Keep it on for a while – several hours, overnight, for a few days, whatever you feel is best. But please, keep it on for over 2 hours!
7. Reward her with a treat or 2.
A NOTE FROM LUNA
Using my method, the guide I shared with you above, while bathing and grooming Chloe, I've found she's more okay with being washed and grooming. Still, if we could just not do it, that'd be better. The only reason I ever bathe Chloe is to get her soft. She's really soft after her bathing, is your kitty?
If you have anything to say, questions, comments, feedback and the such, feel free by replying to this thread or PM. I hope you enjoyed my guide, but most importantly, I hope it was helpful!

A NOTE FROM CHLOE
I'll say whatever she said above. I'm treated like royalty whenever I'm given a bath or I'm groomed. Way better than the treatment I got at the humane society, that's for sure! (although it's totally understandable)
Anyway, I hope that your guys's owners read this guide and use it for you! Like Luna said above, if you have questions, comments, feedback, etc., reply to this thread or PM us. We'll answer any question you may have!
