I don't know. We usually can find bananas in the stores all year round, but I imagine they often are shipped in from somewhere else.

Mum is now reading an article in gardening. Is your pot plant overcrowded and has yellow leaves? Do you need to divide it and plant it in new fresh garden soil? Mum's clinic has a pot plant that is a bit out of shape. Mum thinks that the practice manager should divide the clump, plant in fresh soil, give a bit of seaweed solution to promote root growth, and the add controlled release fertiliser. May be your mum can consider doing this because plants need to be repotted every few years?

It probably is time for Mom to repot one of her plants as it getting some yellow leaves. She's repotted it once, but that was shortly after she got it a couple of years ago. She's not familiar with the seaweed solution. Is this something that can be bought at stores with gardening supplies?

MUm is now reading a petshop flyer. They have cat bowls that is tilted at an angle to assist the neck of a cat while eating. Have you thought of getting one? Mum is thinking. Last week, the water fountain seemed to stop flowing and mum thought she may need to buy a new one. Now it works again. Thank God

Mom hasn't seen those kinds of bowls. She'll look for them next time she's in PetSmart. I don't think her Walmart carries them. Coco's bowls are in an elevated holder which seems to work well for her.

Plants need to be pulled out, removed dead leaves, trimmed the root balls or divided them to get more plants depending on how clumping some of them are. This should be done every 2 years because the root system will fill up the whole pot and the plant needs new soil for new nutrients. In Oz, we have seaweed solution. It is a health tonic that keep your plants healthy and against stress. Whenever we repot a plant, we disturb the root system. So, the seaweed solution will help transplant shock and promote root and leave growth. The bad thing is it is smelly for a while. You can get them in hardware store (garden section) or nursery. People always repot their plants if they find out that the soil is too "dead" and stiff. It is time to repot to aerate the roots for better growth. If the roots are healthy, the plants are healthy.

You can use the seaweed solution monthly to keep the plants happy. After you have repotted the plant, drop a few tablets of controlled released fertiliser. They can last for a few months to 1 year, depending on the brand. This "pearls" is convenient to use and has no odor.

Thanks for the info. Mom will see if she can find those things at one of the stores here that sells the gardening supplies. Since we're going into fall and winter here, the gardening sections aren't as well stocked. She may have to wait till spring. She does use the Miracle-Gro plant food periodically.
