so a little update on the urinating by the food bowls:
We moved the food bowls and fortunately have not had any trouble by his food, although I have seen him try to cover any leftovers (he thinks he is so smart ) but no urine. as for where the pee was, I bought an enzyme cleaner? whatever it is called, I went with a natural one because the other kind said specifically not to used around pets and for some reason my cats are attracted to cleaning products, and I prefer to use mostly natural products at home. I honestly think it didn't do anything. I followed the instructions but it didn't work. however I just found that he has been doing it in the opposite corner also! now I was really puzzled because that is no where near the food, but my husband brought up a good point: neighbors who recently moved, had a female cat. We live in a condo where our shared wall have baseboard heat and I so its possible that they could smell each other through it. not only that I but I know he knows about her because sometimes I take him onto our patio (supervised) and he would see her through the sliding door and he would meow at her. so I was wondering if maybe he is marking the corners because he is feeling territorial?
the other idea that would explain the latter is that one corner is right next to the sliding door to our patio and the squirrels drive him bonkers. they tease him and he runs into the glass all the time trying to attack them. this wouldn't explain the other corner I know but maybe that's it.
any idea or suggestions?

Mom has used Nature's Miracle and it seemed to work, not sure if that is the one you used?
I am wondering if anyone has tried Feliway? It is made up of the pheromones that make cats feel good. It supposedly calms them down and helps with some of the issues like marking, fighting etc. It is not cheap but if it works it might be worth a try.

Thanks for the reply,
Yes it was nature's Miracle. Unfortunately it didn't work for us. We used to have the plug in for my other cats anxiety and it didn't seem to work. I have a feeling that the reason why it doesn't work that the room that the marking in is to big. We have a "great room" type of layout in our home connecting the kitchen, dinning room and living room. However, mittens has the collar form of the plug in and I really does help for her anxiety so maybe it would work for Pinecone? Maybe. Has anyone tried it for marking?
Thanks for the suggestions though.

My mom tried Feliway and it worked. She did not want to get the diffusers because she did not want to spend that much money in case it did not work. We have an upstairs so we would need more than one. What she did was buy a small bottle of the Feliway spray. She did not want to saturate the air with it. She put two little sprays on our bedding and places where we hang out. It really did work well. She had to respray after a couple of days but she is gradually respraying it less and less.
