After my 2 tabby cats had passed away at the ages of 17 and 18, I was really missing having cats. After missing them for quite some time I had really been wanting a new cat . On New years eve, I was at a friends place and they offered me a 9 month old kitten. It turned out that I didn't take her because they ended up keeping her. However at that point, I was still really missing having cats and I seriously started to look for a cat/kitten that I could adopt. It didn't matter to me if I adopted an adult cat or a kitten, they all need homes. So on January 13th I decided to go check out the Humane Society where they always have animals up for adoption. I had never been to the shelter since they moved into a brand new, huge location.
I walked in there and started visiting with the kitties, and I was only going to adopt one if one of the cats had a connection with me. The third cat I saw was an adorable orange adult cat named Egypt who was very, very small. There was a couple of people who had seen Egypt on the website of animals up for adoption and they had come in just for her. They took her adoption sheet to the desk to apply to adopt her, so I went to visit with the other cats to see if there were any that had a connection with me. A little while later I came back to the room where Egypt was being kept and her adoption sheet was back on the wall, meaning that couple never took her and she was still available. So I spent some more time with her and decided she was the one. I knew by the way she looked at me and was sooo overly affectionate. Plus, when the other couple put her adoption sheet back on the wall, I knew it was a sign. She was meant to be. Once I adopted her, I named her Paris. She warmed up to me immediately, and it didn't take long for her to be my best little friend. We are so bonded together, she's always happy to see me and follows me everywhere. She sleeps in my bed with me and my dog, and Paris wakes me when she decides its time to get up.
Poor little Paris had been so much in the past few weeks before we met. She had been found as a tiny, super skinny stray, pregnant cat. It turned out once she was in the shelter, she had one, single kitten that after a difficult labour, was a stillborn. The vet had her checked over and they made sure there were no more kittens. Then she was spayed and she also needed a tooth extraction because of bad teeth. Now that she has a warm, cozy home, she eats a lot and she's at a healthy weight, she's also on a special food to help her with her teeth.
