One of our males sprays in the house now and again it's really annoying the vet says its probably because he's trying to show his dominance in a multi cat household, fortunately it's usually a throw on a chair or something which can be washed properly, he has been 'done', so has anyone please got any tips to discourage spraying ?

You could try feliway, it is supposed to put a calming effect into the room, like the natural calming hormones that they release normally when they rub against things.. You can either get it in plug in form or spray that you can spray into the air. Others might have more ideas but that would be my suggestion.

ahhh I hear you pain my friend. I have this issue with Tigger. He seems to get worked up some days. and I just wait for it. I have several Feliway plugged in. I also use the spray on items that he has hit more than once. I buy Nature's Miracle by the gallon. He seems to get worked up when there are alot of the feral colony I care for in the back yard. I try to catch him before he does it, like when I see him sniffing, and he will turn, then I go HEY! STOP! It is frustrating, and I know it is for him too. I know he is not doing it on purpose. They do it to calm themselves, and feel better, but that doesn't make it acceptable either. Try keeping any stress down, and use a blacklite to see anywhere he has gone. Use a good enzyme cleaner to get it all, otherwise they can smell it. I have 2 other males & 1 female, and they do not do this, just Tig. I wish I knew of a magic answer, cause I would make a fortune!
