Due to the Canada fires, the air quality in New York is so bad, they cancelled racing yesterday at Belmont. They reopened it this morning, but that doesn't mean it'll stay open & it very well could postpone the Belmont. If they do run, here are my picks:
1st- Tapit Trice
2nd- Forte
3rd- Angel of Empire
Yes, Jason two Tapit's & right next to each other in the gate too!
My mom is part Italian on her father's side Ætheling.

Looks like the air is clear enough so there will be a Belmont tomorrow. My picks:
1. Forte 2. National Treasure 3. Tapit Trice
Looks like we're all picking the same horses more or less, just in different order.
I do like the smaller field; gives everyone a fair chance.

We like the way NBC televises better.
CBS didn't even show a complete rerun of the race and didn't show the complete order of finish.
And, their background crowd noise was louder than the announcers. Couldn't even hear the call of the race!

We all got at least one of our picks, so congrats to us all! I really enjoyed this telecast for alot of reasons, just a couple being because they didn't spend alot of time talking about & showing celebrities that have nothing to do with horse racing & they had some new people. It was a breath of fresh air to me. Also a female trainer finally won it. This was a history making Belmont.

Twinkle, I agree with what you said, I like that “they didn't spend alot of time talking about & showing celebrities that have nothing to do with horse racing”
Athena, I’m glad to know it wasn’t just me it had trouble hearing the announcer calling the race!
Well, my second and third choice came in first and second.

So happy for the first woman trainer to win a Triple Crown race! Way to go, Jena!!! She beat all the "big boys". I'm getting tired of seeing their faces over and over, plus having 2, 3, 4 horses in the same race. Certainly stacking the deck against the little guy. Also, when she walked on the track towards Arcangelo and Javier Castellano after the race, her arms wide for a hug, I thought she was going to hug the jockey, but she went to Arcangelo first and kissed him on the nose! Then she hugged Javier. That's my kind of woman!!! Yes, Twinkle, in order to get lots of people ($$$) to the Triple Crown races they've turned it into a big "love in". Parties and booze and rock bands playing during the races. People in the infield can't even see the race and they're not interested in it anyway. Yeah, I don't like the celebrities interviews. Like the people in the infield, they don't know anything. Guess I'm old-fashioned; when I go to a sporting event, I'm going to see the event, not celebrities, not parties, not game rooms -- all of which adds to much higher costs to the price of a ticket. Back to the race: Most of the horses had Tapit in their bloodline (good for longer distance races) and it showed as four of them were all coming strong the last few hundred yards, but Arcangelo was still strong and wouldn't have given up the lead to anyone. (Nice riding by Castellano, slipping in along the rail). Ætheling, you were the only one who picked Arcangelo for any spot.
