Tobbie, that's funny! Mom has always enjoyed hearing that unique Australian accent, but it can be hard to understand. I can see how your mom could have misunderstood it. Even in the U.S., people in different regions of the country have differing accents, and we poke fun at them.

Tobbie, MOL. Some types of British accents are difficult for my Ohio ears. Geordie accent for one. And Scottish I find really hard for an Ohioan. The first time my typist saw Chariots of Fire back in 1981, she sat through the Scottish scenes completely mystified. She kept thinking, they must be speaking in English, otherwise there would be subtitles. 😹

People tell mom she has a Chicago accent. She didn't know Chicagoans had accents!
Does anycat know if this litter on Twinkle's face is clumping or non-clumping?

🤔 Should we just let Twinkle sleep? She shouldn’t lick all of that off of her body, maybe we can just brush it off.

Yes, that Scottish brogue can be hard to understand, too!
Mom has been told she has a Texas accent. Heck, even within Texas, we talk different ways.

I have no idea what kind of litter it is - let's just brush it off and let her sleep.

Definitely a Chicago accent. The parents could hear it when they visited Chicago. Mama thinks of our Cleveland accent is sort of a soft version of a Chicago accent. And just a very short distance south of Cleveland, the accents are more southern-leaning accents. And when she lived in the Kent/Akron area, there was a unique accent there as well, and yet that’s so close to Cleveland. But different accents.
The parents used to drive all over the country and road trips. Mama really enjoyed listening to all the different accents in different places.

Aetheling, it is interesting to hear how people in different regions talk.
In east Texas, where Mom lives, people have more of a Southern accent, as is the culture. If you go to west Texas, it's more of what people think of as a traditional Texas accent. A lot of non-Texans also think that all of Texas is like west Texas because that's the part of the state they would see in the old Hollywood westerns.
