Athena, 2020 will hopefully not be as wild a horse race year at 2019 was.
My horses came in second, third, and fourth. Too bad none of them came in first! MOL!

No one picked the winner ... the second, third and fourth horses still get part of the purse. I was just talking about 2020 in general, not just for horse racing.
It's been a rough one for trainer Bob Baffert. (Not that I'm defending him; all trainers do illegal things, especially when it's about drugs used on horses.)
Since the beginning of this year about 6 horses that he was training for the Derby at different times developed injuries that took them out of contention. Two of his fillies that won races were disqualified because of drugs in their systems and Baffert is still fighting that to be reversed. His filly that was supposed to win the Kentucky Oaks, didn't, and on Kentucky Derby Day, within the time of 1/2 hour, his horse fell in the paddock, possibly injuring himself, his assistant trainer fell and broke his hand and his other horse beat the favorite and won the Kentucky Derby. On the post-race interview, Baffert was so emotional it was hard for him to even talk. Now that's what I call a rollercoaster ride!

I wonder why they weren't saddling Thousand Words in the stalls like the other horses were? If he was in those stalls he wouldn't have been able to back up and loose his balance. Too many "handlers" around him; they got in each other's way. When he went up the guy holding the lead rope should have pulled him forward; then, again, too many people in the way to maneuver.

Now if that guy in the gray suit and black mask would have stayed on the horse's right side, he could have stopped his back end from swinging around, or at least slowed him down. No, instead "gray suit" came around to the left side of the horse so he would be in the camera's picture. (He must be one of those "100 people")
OK, dumb-dumbs! Put my mom in there!

It's weird how yesterday in the Kentucky Oaks my picks were:
Swiss Skydiver Gamine Shedaresthedevil Speech
I did get the whole top 4, but not in the order I wanted. It's rare that I get them all.
Of course, I didn't do go good on the Derby, as expected.
Thousand Words falling over like this was a shocker! I just hope that he really is ok & they don't find some problems later on.

Athena, we watched all the races that were on NBC, we saw that one with Bell's the One. How exciting it was! 🐎 😀 Twinkle, we don't get the NBC sports channel anymore, so we can't watch Kentucky Oaks. Cool that you got all of your top four in the top four!
